Safety first

An alarm did not work as expected

Keep using an alarm you already trust. In Couples Alarm, confirm the saved sound and schedule, then create a near-future test from the phone’s intended bedside position. Delete the test after it fires.

If the alarm is missing, uses the wrong sound, fires at the wrong time, or does not fire, contact support with the phone model, iOS or Android version, Couples Alarm version, and what happened. Do not include partner names, listening results, or private alarm labels.

Alarm access is off

iPhone: Find Alarm access in Couples Alarm and tap Open Settings. Enable Alarm access, return to the app, and create the alarm again.

Android: Open Settings → Alarm access in Couples Alarm. Check Exact alarms, Notifications, Full-screen alarms, and the Alarm notification channel. Use the offered Android settings controls, then return and confirm your alarm is enabled with no warning. Names and settings screens vary by phone and Android version.

If you force stop the Android app in system settings, open Couples Alarm again before expecting alarms to work. Do not rely on it while a permission or scheduling warning remains.

The alarm is not loud enough

iPhone:

  1. In iPhone Settings → Sounds & Haptics, raise Ringtone & Alerts and turn Change with Buttons off.
  2. Under Volume Limit, turn Limit Maximum Volume off.
  3. In Couples Alarm, open Alarm not loud enough? and run the real 10-second test.

Android: Set Alarm volume in the phone’s Sound & vibration settings; media volume is separate. In Couples Alarm, open Settings → Alarm volume → Ring in 10 Seconds, then use Stop test alarm when it rings. A saved sound and alarm permissions are needed first.

Use the built-in speaker, disconnect headphones, Bluetooth, and USB audio, and test from the intended bedside position. If Android delays alarms, review the battery-restriction guidance on that screen. Also test a near-future saved alarm with the phone locked, including Snooze and Stop; a preview alone is not enough.

These changes affect other alerts too. If the test is still not loud enough, do not use Couples Alarm as your only alarm.

We didn’t find a sound

Retry only if an answer seemed wrong. Use the phone’s built-in speaker in a quiet room, disconnect headphones and Bluetooth, and follow the volume instructions in the app. Keep the phone away from your ears. If no sound works for both of you, keep using an alarm you already trust.

Reminder notifications are off

iPhone: Free-month reminders are optional. Change them in Settings → Notifications → Couples Alarm. Turning reminders off does not turn off your alarms.

Android: Alarm notifications are required by the app’s scheduling checks. Turn off only Settings → Free-month reminder in Couples Alarm if you do not want that optional reminder. Keep alarm notifications enabled in Settings → Alarm access.

Remove saved information

Delete an alarm from the alarm list. To remove both profiles, listening results, the saved sound, and all saved wake alarms, use Settings → Erase All Data on iPhone or Settings → Erase Setup & Alarms on Android, then confirm.

Retake listening test keeps saved alarms but pauses them until you finish setup again. On Android, erasing setup does not reset free-month eligibility or delete a Google Play purchase. See the privacy policy for storage and deletion details.

Android Full Access is unavailable

Google Play purchases require the correct Play account and a build eligible for Play testing. A locally installed test build does not prove that purchases work. If a purchase is pending, wait for Google Play to complete it. If you already purchased, use Restore Google Play Purchase with the same Play account rather than buying again.

If access or the price cannot be loaded, keep using a trusted backup alarm and contact support. Do not send payment-card details or purchase tokens.

Still stuck?

Contact support

On iPhone, open Settings → Feedback & Support. On Android, choose Settings → Email Support. Review the app and iOS or Android versions in the draft, then send it only when ready. If no email app is available, email us directly. Do not include partner names, listening results, payment details, or other sensitive information.
